This piece explores the skeletal grace of the dried branches I gather along the path this time of year. I’m drawn to their sketchy lines—organic, yet architectural. In the background, the mountains compete for attention as their jagged structures and the branches' silhouettes hold a conversation across the canvas.
In this lively abstract painting, I set out to capture a lightness and delicacy in the flowers. The stems rise up from the deep below, revealing their vibrant flowers at the top. With exuberance, they reach skyward, eager to catch the sun's rays in a playful dance.
The deep greens make this piece stand out. Stems, leaves and a curiosity of shapes are intertwined in a dramatic and energetic garden display which appeals to my eye. Above it all the flowers rise and stand triumphant over the chaos below. The sides are painted as well creating a garden on your wall.
This one went through a few lives before finding its rythym. It's a tangle of wild florals holding themselves together - barely. I like that tension between boldness and restraint, chaos and control. That's where I find the good stuff.
When I receive a bouquet from my not so secret admirer (Dave) I keep it in my studio to paint. This one had a tulip in the middle of a variety of other flowers. I couldn't help thinking that they are all better together. Thus the name.
While out in the garden, head down digging out weeds, I felt a small bit of wind lift my hair. It was ever so soft but made the flowers shift a little to the right. The wind was having fun with us in a gentle and graceful way. Gust" captures that moment for me.
