We have lost many hats over the years while out sailing. This painting reminds me of the scramble to see if we can retrieve it or not before it sinks down to Davy's locker. All the elements of being out there in the wind, amongst other boats, the currents and tides are captured in this active composition. The sides are painted in the same fashion so no frame needed.
