Abstracting boats, marinas and coastal sitings informs this series. I gather my material while out sailing and work on them in my studio.

Hidden within the sandstone cliffs of Valdez and Galiano Islands are faces that look out at us as we sail by. I draw furiously as we sail along capturing the shapes and characters that I see. Eventually they make their way into my bigger work as in this case. This painting has a joyful and celebratory atmosphere and knowing that the faces are looking out at you makes it fun to find them.
